Confidentiality

This is a key aspect of the counselling relationship. Everything discussed in counselling sessions is kept in the strictest confidence. I have the responsibility and commitment to work under regular supervision. From time to time, I may need to share and discuss some of the information from our sessions with a qualified supervisor, always within a strict framework of confidentiality and professionalism. The client’s identity is always kept anonymous.

Confidentiality can only be broken when there is evidence that the client may harm themselves or others. In this case, the counsellor will most likely contact the appropriate services. The client will be informed in advance, and only in the case of an imminent threat might the counsellor make this decision without consulting with the client.

Please inform the counsellor at the beginning of each session of any medical treatment you may be undergoing for emotional difficulties.

Sessions

Sessions are usually 50 minutes in duration. Payment for the therapy session will be expected on the day of your appointment. We provide EFTPOS and other payment options, unless your therapist has specified otherwise.

Bookings may be cancelled over the phone up to 24 hours before the booked appointment time. If a session is cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time, a cancellation fee of $55.00 applies (including GST). Payment of this fee must be made before or on the day of your next appointment; otherwise, future sessions may not proceed.

Fees

Fees will be disclosed by administration prior to your initial appointment. Counselling sessions are $120 per session (with a sliding scale in operation for students or individuals on reduced income). Medicare rebates are not available for counsellors; however, some private health rebates may be available (please contact your private health provider for further information on coverage).

Duration of Counselling

The duration of the therapeutic process will depend on the type of difficulty or problem the client is facing.
